For current county jail status, call the Cherokee County jail. Sheriff-created booking records and photographs should be requested from the Sheriff’s Office through its open-records form. Public office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Email and web messages are not monitored around the clock. Use 911 for an emergency.

Route the request by record type:
- For a current inmate, recent release, booking sheet, or sheriff-held photo, begin with the county search and records paths; call the jail for live custody and use the sheriff’s KORA form for documents.
- For a felony-warrant listing or direct warrant verification, use the official routes described on Most Wanted.
- For a Baxter Springs, Columbus, or Galena police report, contact the police department that created it. A jail-created photograph still belongs with the sheriff.
- For the final result of a criminal case, use the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal or the appropriate municipal or district court clerk.
- For a sentenced or supervised Kansas prisoner profile, search the Kansas Department of Corrections KASPER system.
- For federal custody or immigration detention, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither is a county mugshot source.
